Learners Education Assistance Program (LEAP)

READ Philippines has adopted the Learners Education Assistance Program (LEAP) in collaboration with MinLand Foundation in Kidapawan City, Philippines. LEAP will provide high school and elementary students with basic necessities such as uniforms, school supplies and daily allowance for transportation and food.

The cost per student (elementary or high school) for school year 2009-2010 is as follows:

$35 (PhP1,500) for uniforms and school supplies (start of the school year)

$15 (PhP600) or PhP30 per day for transportation and food subsidy

$185 (PhP7,500) total annual support per student (includes uniform, school supplies and transportation/food).

READ Philippines (MOP) is recognized by the IRS as a charitable organization under Section 501c3 of the IRS Code. Therefore, donation to MOP for LEAP is tax-deductible. Donors will also receive reports on the student's progress including a report card and financial accounting of expenses. At the end of the school year, donors will be provided a final report on the student's academic achievement and the impact of the donor's assistance.
